Kajima Community, in partnership with NHS Property Services (NHSPS), have proudly expanded the use of their award-winning space management software, NHS Open Space, – designed to maximise and streamline facility use and patient care across the entire healthcare estates portfolio.
Originally launched in 2016, NHS Open Space was created by Kajima Community, with the expert support and guidance from healthcare specialists, to provide NHSPS with a comprehensive and robust suite of booking and analytics tools, to effectively manage their estates portfolio.
The software is now being rolled out to onboard other healthcare landlords and partners to benefit from this comprehensive estate management tool. The system enables landlords to efficiently manage their spaces, whether for internal bookings or by making rooms available to other organisations, as well as allowing Estate Managers to gain insights into space performance and under-utilisation. This approach maximises value through new revenue streams and reduces ongoing costs.
At the heart of NHS Open Space is a self-service booking platform, allowing users to search, book, and utilise spaces quickly, saving valuable administration time and resources. Since its launch, around 7,000 users have successfully provided over 160 services to patients, totalling an impressive 3.5 million consultation hours.
Phil Brenner, Strategic Estates Advisor at Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Integrated Care Board, who have used the software since 2020, has seen the benefit of NHS OpenSpace in his organisation and the positive impact it has had for colleagues and patients, he added:
“We are pleased to see the extension of NHS Open Space to our estates colleagues and landlords across the NHS, having experienced for ourselves the benefits and positive outcomes it brings to our estates management strategy. We look forward to working with NHSPS to further enhance and develop the work we are doing together, improving access to the excellent care delivered to patients across our estate.”
Community Health Partnerships, the Head Tenant of 308 healthcare buildings across England, are another organisation collaborating with NHS Open Space. They are currently working together with NHS OpenSpace on a pilot scheme using the platform across eighteen buildings in the Midlands and London regions. The aim is to further enhance estate management and service delivery.
Chris Smith, Head of Kajima Community, said: “I am delighted that our successful partnership with NHSPS has expanded the NHS Open Space platform to benefit all NHS landlords across the entire health estate. Our in-house development team has worked collaboratively with NHSPS to deliver a solution tailored to their and other landlords’ needs, providing the clarity and control required to assess, manage, and evaluate their estates.
NHS Open Space, offers customers several added benefits, including a self-service portal for property management, flexible pricing, user management, and access to financial reports. The platform’s intuitive, user-friendly interface also streamlines management tasks and maximises usage.”
