Kristis celebrates 1 year at BookingsPlus…

Kristis joined the BookingsPlus Development team in August 2018.  He is one of our team of in-house developers dedicated to improving and updating our BookingPlus platform, ensuring users get the best and most secure online experience.

As we gear up for our biggest development project so far, bringing some brand-new and exciting features to our customers, Kristis takes a look back at some of the development challenges and hurdles he’s overcome in the last 12 months and some of his major achievements.

“Im originally from Lithuania, graduating from Vilnius College of Technology and Design in 2015 before coming to the UK. I started my career in IT at a start-up before joining Kajima and the BookingPlus team as a software developer.

I work in the busy and bustling community office, based in Northampton as part of a dedicated team that strives to improve BookingPlus by adding new features and identifying potential security flaws in the programme.  I work with the back end-business logic and front-end user view, keeping the application advanced and functional.

This last year has been a steep learning curve for me. I’ve enjoyed the variation of the work, developing our existing platform as well as assisting on our new contract with NHS Property Services (NHSPS).

The biggest new change for me has been the way we deliver and develop software as a team. We have adopted ‘Scrum’ which is a framework often adopted within technical environments to address complex problems, and to manage and deliver effective solutions. The focus is on team collaboration breaking down the large projects we are working on into smaller tasks and the working closely with our fellow team mates to deliver what is required. Yes, it comes from the game of rugby where the team huddle and work together to win the ball. Although I think that’s where the similarities stop, between playing rugby and coding!

I’m really looking forward to the next phase of development work coming-up, we’ve got some exciting ideas that will move our platform on ahead of other similar products on the market and bolster BookingsPlus as the number one online lettings software product.”
